These two wonderful organisations do so much for our island, and this event is a terrific way for funds to be raised on their behalf while at the same time giving us all an additional appreciation for the wonderful coastline our island is blessed with. This event is very much for the fun of participating- it isn’t designed to be a competition, simply a great way to get out and enjoy Jersey’s fabulous coastline and raise some money for two tremendously worthy causes.
The concept is simple- register as a participant in the event (either online or on paper), pay a small registration fee and then between 1st July and 30th July the goal is to swim for a minimum of 30 strokes in as many Bays as possible from the list of bays to be provided to every entrant. There will be organised swims to open and close the event, and every registrant will be invited to participate in these. Of course everyone is encouraged to get as much sponsorship as they can- all registration fees, sponsorship and donations will be divided evenly between the National Trust Jersey and Jersey Hospice Care.
Many of the 30 Bays are likely to be known to you, while some may not be quite so familiar. There are even two very special locations on the list; Les Ecrehous reef and Les Minquiers reef; these are very well known to us from our RIB Charters and powerboat courses so we were particularly excited to see these on the list! More than that, Le Mourier will be offering some very special charters to each of these reefs to allow those without their own boat a chance to tick them off the list! We’ll also be providing safety boats for each of the organised swim events.
We strongly urge all of our swimmers, boaters, their families and friends to sign up for this terrific event. Let’s all start our summer off with this fun challenge, raise some money for good causes and make sure that as many of the Le Mourier family as possible tick off all 30 Bays!
